Parenting Together

Do it for the Kids

Description:

“Parenting Together Do it For the Kids” is a 20-minute educational video created in order to inform parents who will be starting the family court process. Its purpose is to show the parties involved that the Judges, Mediators, and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are all a part of the process solely to help them. It is meant to humanize the role that each of these professionals plays during the separation.

From May 2020 to May 2022, interviews were conducted virtually with six different professionals including four Judges, one Licensed Clinical Psychologist/Divorce Mediator, and one Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Each one provides insight from their own personal and professional experiences on how parents can navigate through the court process in a positive way. They remind both parties how they should be prioritizing their children during these challenging times.

Our goal with this project was to prove to parents that at one point they came together with passion, love, and care in their hearts, even through something as life-shattering as a separation or divorce. We want them to know it is possible to make it through this separation and live a new happily ever after that they themselves and their children deserve.
